The TargetWatch Heat Map, located at the top of the TargetWatch page, provides a straightforward way to drill down into the data set of a particular location. Clicking on a desired area will drill down into the next concentration, moving from State to County to ZIP Code as applicable. The data shown in the table below the heat map will also filter to the selected area. This article walks through the process of drilling down into a specific Zip Code from the National map, as well as how to zoom back out to the State or National level.
• Log into the PlayMaker Spark web application.
• Click on the TargetWatch link on the navigation bar.
Understanding the TargetWatch page
The TargetWatch page has three primary areas:
2. The Physician Heat Map. TargetWatch data is purchased at a national, state or county level. Only the data that was purchased by your organization will be color coded to physician and patient concentration. Any areas not purchased will remain gray. If the heap map does not load, please check out this troubleshooting article for assistance. If the map does load, but you don't have access to a territory that you believe you should, please partner with your system administrator or internal IT team, as access to TargetWatch data is determined internally and't can't be modified by the PlayMaker Support team.
3. Below the map is a table of information about physicians or facilities in the area being shown on the heat map. Clicking on the different tabs will display that set of data. These tabs are also dependent upon the data purchased by your organization, so tabs that are displayed in this article may not appear in your TargetWatch environment
Navigating with the Heat Map
Each of the states that your organization has access to will be color coded. These color codings will reflect the concentration of physicians in that state. When the cursor moves over a state, the number of physicians in that state's data set will appear (shown above). Clicking on a state will load that state on the map, showing county outlines. The counties will be color coded based on physician concentration, just as the states are (see below).
In the above map, we can see the counties with more physicians range from dark blue to red. More rural counties display as gray. Even though a county may be gray, it may still have data.
Clicking on a county will provide details about the county (above), instead of loading that county. Since counties aren't labeled and can be smaller or difficult to click due to shape, the pop-up details all you to confirm that you are selecting the correct county. This pop-up notes the number of physicians registered in that county, the "Total HHA Patient Volume" number represents the total number of unique patients associated to the Physicians in that territory.
To load the county, click the "Zoom to county" link.
Once loaded, the county will be split into zip codes, which can be selected just as the counties were. Again, the ability to zoom in is present. Zooming in from the zip code will show the physical location of the contacts listed in the table below the map:
Mousing over the different contact location icons will display the name of the physician at that location. To zoom in even further to see street details, click the "+" button to enlarge the map, or the "-" button to zoom out. These buttons are found at the bottom right corner of the map.
How do I go back?
Once a county or zip code has been reviewed, you may want to go back to the prior territory view to load a different county or zip code. Ordinarily, when someone wants to return to the previous page that they were working on, they would click the "Back" button in their web browser. Doing so from the TargetWatch page will return you to the page that you were navigating before loading TargetWatch. Note: It is important to not use the "Back" button of your browser to prevent leaving the TargetWatch page. Leaving the page will reset the map (along with any searches) back to it's default view.
After leaving the national view by selecting a state, links appear at the top left of the heat map to provide users a way to quickly navigate back to the County, State or National heat maps. This series of links will also display what is presently being viewed on the heat map. In the above example, clicking on the "Davidson county" link would load the zip codes within that county, allowing us the ability to choose another zip code to look at. Choosing the "Tennessee" link would take us back to the state view, where we could then choose a new county.
