Favorable referral sources (accounts or contacts) are easily identifiable using decile rankings. The ranking allow us to find referral sources that may refer patients that align with our organizations specialties, or find referral sources that refer a high number of patients to post-acute care agencies. These referral sources can then be imported into your PlayMaker Contacts or Accounts pages, making them available to track call, visit and referral history. In this example, we will search for home health physicians.
Clicking on a tab will make that tab active. In the above screenshot, the HHA Practitioner tab is active. A white tab will indicate the active tab, while gray tabs indicate inactive tabs. Targeting referral sources can be performed on one tab at a time but will work similarly on each tab.
Sorting and Filtering Referral Sources
You can make the large referral source list more manageable by breaking it into smaller and more relevant data sets by creating targets. In this example we will reduce a large list of physicians to one that is more manageable by focusing on those that have a strong patient volume and a significant number of referrals to home health.
There are a few of ways to start sorting and filtering the data:
- Examine the decile rankings PlayMaker provides for each physician. These deciles are part of the record for each physician, reading from left-to-right, and are color coded. Higher numbers indicate a higher patient volume in that category. To better understand the column headers on the HHA Practitioner tab, please see this article. To review other articles that explain the column headers on other tabs, please search the Help Center for the term "column headers" for a more complete list.
- To sort rankings by column topic (e.g., to see which physician has the best referrals-to-home-health), click on the column heading. The results will be re-sorted in the order of highest to lowest for that value as represented by the black triangle icon below the header. Clicking the header a second time will sort the results in an ascending (lowest to highest) order.
- You can also use the “Search Active Tab” box to narrow your field even further by searching for a specific City, Zip Code, specialty or name. This article provides an overview on performing searches in TargetWatch.
Saving Sorted and Filtered Data as Targets
Now that the referral sources have been sorted and filtered the way you want, you can save a "target" that will retain these settings, making this list easy to return to in the future.
After setting sorting and filter options, click the "Target" button, displayed just below the tabs on the TargetWatch page. This will save the information that is currently displayed as a target located in your Uncategorized Targets folder, in the TargetWatch box located in the column on the left side of the page. Please see these articles to learn more about creating targets or organizing targets.
